Preparation of Ethanol ( Ethyl Alcohol ) .

Sub - Topic :-

Fermentation .

Solution :-

We can done this process in 2 steps .

Step 1 :-

At first we have to prepare a solution of Sucrose and water and then a enzyme named " invertase " decomposes the solution of Sucrose and water in Glucose and Fructose respectively .

For The reaction Kindly see the 1st attachment .

Step 2 :-

From the decomposition of Sucrose we get Glucose and Fructose as the products . Now ,Glucose decomposes into Ethyl Alcohol ( Ethanol ) and Carbon Dioxide in the presence of a enzyme named " Zymase " ( also found in yeast ) .

And this entire process is known as Fermentation and Louis Pasteur discovered this process .

Note :-

  • Formulae for Fructose and Glucose is same .
  • Sucrose is the juice of sugar obtained from sugarcane in other words it is starch .
  • Formulae of starch and sucrose is different .
  • IUPAC name of ethyl alcohol is Ethanol .
