To test the presence of starch in any food item, we will follow the following steps- 1. Take the food item which contains carbohydrates. Eg.potato. Slice it into two half's.

2. Put the food item on a plate.

3. Take 2-3 drops of iodine in a dropper and put it into the food item.

You will see that the food item's colour changes to blue-black. This shoes the presence of starch.
