Light a candle and place a jar over it. Also keep a tray underneath which is filled with water so that it becomes air tight. After sometime the oxygen inside the jar is consumed ,releasing carbon dioxide. In the absence of oxygen, the flame goes off. This shows air supports burning.
Hope it helps you

when a substance burns, it reacts with oxygen as it is supporter of combustion. for example-:
In many equipment's such as chulha, sigri, kerosene pressure stove are used for combustion of fuels to cook food. In all these equipment's, for combustion of fuel provision is made for supplying the supporter of combustion, i.e, oxygen in air. There are gaps in chulha, sigri to let air to enter in them and support the burning process.
