Answer:

this can be proved with an experiment

take two potted plants(A and B) keep them in dark for 8 hours (so that all starch gets used up)

keep a solution of KOH beside the plant A

cover both of them with the bell jar

Vaseline can be used to make the jar air tight

keep both the plants in sunlight for 2 hours

pluck the leaves from both of the plants

boil them for few minutes

dip the leaf in the container containing alcohol

place the beaker in the boiling water

soak the leaf in the iodine solution

rinse the iodine solution  and check the color of leaves pluck from plant A and B

Explanation:

the color of the leaf in plant A  when  taken out from the alcohol solution is  pale yellow  while in plant B it's green

this is because KOH has the ability to absorb carbon dioxide and so the plant A was unable to perform photosynthesis

when we soaked leaves in iodine in plant A it was pale yellow while B showed it as blue back this shows the absence and presence of starch respectively

I hope this helps

Answer:

Potassium hydroxide in the flask absorbs carbon dioxide; thus, due to the absence of CO2, the leaf fails to produce starch which proves thatcarbon dioxide is necessary for photosynthesis.
