Vocational education faces many serious problems in the developing countries. On the basis of these problems a strong case has been formed against vocational education. In this paper, the nature of these problems has been discussed in the Indian context. It is found that vocational education is not inherently defective. Therefore, the case against vocational education is too weak to seek its outright rejection. What is needed is an appropriate set of vocational education policies for the developing countries like India.
