Simple distillation can be used when the temperature difference between the boiling points of two miscible liquid is at least 25C. The temperature difference between the boiling points of kerosene and petrol is 25C. Hence, this mixture can be separated using simple distillation.

Answer:

A mixture of two missible liquid having a different in their boiling point more than 25°C can be separated by the method of distillation. Thus, Kerosene and petrol can be separated.

In this method, the mixture of kerosene and petrol is taken in a distillation flask with a thermometer filled in it . We also need a beaker, a water condenser and a busen burner. The apparates is arranged as show in the above figure. Then, the mixture heated slowly. The thermometer should be watch simultaneously. Kerosene will vaporize and condenser outlet, whereas petrol is left behind in the distillation flask.
