when the mixture is heated in a beaker( the mouth of the beaker is covered with a cork)....ammonium chloride evaporates and undergoes sublimation...its vapors on coming in contact with the neck of the beaker cool and solidify.

We can separate a mixture of sand and ammonium chloride by the process name as sublimation.
By heating the mixture we can separate them.
Start heating the mixture and in this way the ammonium chloride will sublime and get stuck on the walls of the funnel leaving sand as residue .
