how will you show experimentally that metal and non metal are good condutor of heat
Answers
Hey fellow,
This experiment is very simple. All you have to do is that take a metal such as a knife and a non metal such as a wooden spoon.
Experiment
Take the knife and butter its sides well. take a candle and light it. hold just the tip of the candle over the flame. we will notice that the butter on all sides start to melt in a short time and drips down. thus we see that metals get heated up faster i.e. they are good conductors of heat.
On the other side, Take a wooden spoon and heat it, you will see that only the part in contact with the heat is heated and it has not traveled to the handle from where you are holding it. This is why wooden handles and spoons are used for cooking purposes.
I hope the answer helped.
Thanks
Metals are very good conductor of electricity.
These are the following examples/experiments that justifies that metals are good conductors of electricity:
- Take an iron rod and burn it on a candle, as time passes you will feel that the other end you are holding from will get hot.
- Hold an iron handle of pot while it is placed on stove
Reason: Metals are good conductors because of the close packing of atoms in metals as well the free electrons that can carry kinetic energy.
