Evaporation is a endothermic process because surface water molecules take up the heat from the bulk water and gets evaporated....

In the case of earthen pot the water becomes cool due to the phenomenon of evaporation. The surface water molecules take the heat from the bulk water and gets its latent heat of vapourisation. Thus the surface water molecules gets evaporated and escape through the minute pores in the earthen pot. Hence leaving the pot water cold.

From this activity we can say that evaporation is a endothermic process as it needs heat energy.
