How will you tell which part of a plant is the stem and which is the root?

The part which bears nodes and internodes and is arising from the plumule of the seed is termed as stem..
The part which does not contain any nodes or internodes and arises from the radicle of the seed is the root.

Hello Dear,

To tell which part of the plant is the stem and which is the root, you need to know some differntiating features betweem them.

◆ Stem Vs Root -

  1. Stem is usually aboveground while root is underground.
  2. Stem are usually round, triangular, flat, polygonal shaped while roots are cylindrical, conical, globular, spindle shaped.
  3. Stem bears fruits, leaves, flowers while root can have lateral and adventitious divisions.
  4. Stems have nodes and internodes while root doesn't.
