Whenever hcl reacts with an active metal, hydrogen gas produced .In fact hydrogen gas produced whenever an acid reacts with a metal.

Test for the presence of hydrogen gas:-

Hydrogen gas is lighter than air so when you passed the gas which was produced in the above reaction through the soap solution the soap bubbles started to escape from the solution and when place the burner the gas burns with a pop sound .

And we all know that only hydrogen gas burns with a pop sound.
