How will you test for the gas which is liberated when hydrochloric acid reacts with an active metal?

Answer:

React the Hcl with Mg which will produce hydrogen gas after reaction. Blow the bubbles near the test tube, it will produce pop sound and will show that gas is liberated after reaction of hcl with active metal

Hydrogen gas is produced when an active metal reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid, when a burning candle is brought near to hydrogen gas, a pop sound is heard due to the combustion of hydrogen gas to from water.
