Hydrogen gas is produced whenever HCl reacts with active metals.

As we all know that hydrogen gas is lighter than air, when the gas is passed through a soap solution.

It is seen that the soap bubbles escape from the solution. When the burner is placed the gas burns with a pop sound which happens due to the presence of hydrogen gas.

✴Hydrogen gas is liberated when an acid reacts with a metal.

✴Acid + Metal -----------) Salt + Hydrogen gas

✴eg. 2HCl + 2Na --------------) 2NaCl + H2

✴When we bring a burning splinter near the gas, it burns with a 'pop' sound..
