On electrolysis of water(H2O),two gases are evolved-Hydrogen(H2) and Oxygen (O2)...
Test of H2 gas:
We can take a burning matchstick towards it ND it will burn with a pop sound... it's the test for hydrogen gas..
Test of O2 gas:
If we take any burning material towards O2,it burns more vigorously.... it's the test for oxygen gas..

Answer:

Electrolysis of water produces Hydrogen gas at cathode and Oxygen gas at anode.

When a glowing splinter is brought close to Hydrogen gas, it burns with a pop sound.

When a glowing splinter is brought close to Oxygen gas, it burns vigorously.

Explanation:

Electrolysis of Water, also called electrochemical splitting of water results in production of Hydrogen gas at cathode (negative terminal) and Oxygen gas at anode (positive terminal) in an electrochemical cell.

To test for Hydrogen gas at cathode

Bring a lighted splint close to the cathode where hydrogen gas is produced, the splint goes out with a pop or squeaky sound.

To test for Oxygen gas at anode

Bring a glowing splint close to the anode where oxygen gas is evolved, it relights as oxygen supports burning.
