How will you test whether a given rod is made of iron or not

Fix 4 brass pins on the rod with the help of wax. clamp the rod in iron stand. heat the rod by a bunsen flame. if the pins falls more rapidly then it is a copper rod but if not then it is a iron rod as copper is a better conductor of heat than iron

by using magnet- if the rod sticks with magnet then the rod is iron otherwise not
