How will you test whether a given solution is acidic, basic or neutral with a turmeric​

ExWhen we put an acid on turmeric like lemon or orange juice , we can notice that the colour of the turmeric does not change.

Then put a base on turmeric like baking soda or soap solution. We can notice that the colour of the turmeric will change red from yellow.

Then put a salt on turmeric like salt solution. We can notice that the colour of the turmeric does not change.

This shows us that turmeric is an indicator only for bases and not for acids or neutral substances.

Note : Neutral substances does not change the colour of any indicator.

Turmeric indicator shows no effect with acidic solution and distilled water(neutral) it remains yellow, while it gives reddish brown colour with basic solution .
