Two experiments are used to demonstrate how light travels in straight lines. In the first example, the presenter arranges three pieces of card, with holes in, in an uneven line. The light stops and cannot travel through all three cards. When she arranges the holes in a straight line, the light can travel through.

consider that light also travels in a curved path

i meant that in this case light travels in a straight line , parabolic , hyperbolic , along a circle and different other ways which you can list

all light rays travel at a same speed i.e. C

in the assumed case if all the light particles come from a same source and are to reach a same destination 1 ray will travel the fastest ( that ray will take a straight path) others will take a longer time depending upon the path taken by them

so different rays take different time to reach a same source and you see everything twice or thrice in a second or so (the reason for this is that it is through the reflected light ray that we are able to see the thing around us) this will make the life more complicated

so we understand that light travels one in a fixed path ( this statement doesnt mean that light should travel in a straight line only this means that in can take any path but a same type of path should be repeated)

as the universe tries to conserve the energy to the maximum it took the path so that the light can travel the fastest and hence the straight line path

hope this helps
