How will you write the predominance of intermolecular interactions of  three states of matter ?

Intermolecular forces are weaker attractions that hold molecules or noble gas particles close together when they are in a liquid or solid form. Gas particles have broken away from the intermolecular forces that hold liquids and solids together. An alternative name for intermolecular forces is the van der Waals forces.  Solids have strong intermolecular forces from that of liquid to that of the gas.

Question :

How  will  you write  the  predominance  of  intermolecular  interactions  of three states of matter ?

Answer :

The predominance of inter-molecular forces is the least in gases and most in the solids; the predominance of thermal energy is the least in solids and the most in gases.

Additional Information :

The molecules in solid, liquid and gas are joined together by the following forces:

Van der wals force occurs due to the interaction between the molecules.

Ion-ion interaction occurs due to the electrostatic force of attraction.

Ion- dipole force due to positive and negative charges.

Gasses are equipped with van der wal forces of attraction while solids have ionic forces.

Thank you.
