The Pancreatic duct connects to the Bile duct and supplies Pancreatic juice, which aids in digestion of carbohydrates, proteins etc.

Blockage or infection in the Pancreatic duct leads to Pancreatitis. Under these conditions, the supply of pancreatic juice to the Bile duct is restricted, or totally cut off. As a result, digestion is affected and there may also be an accumulation of pancreatic juices.

Gallstones are a common cause for such obstruction.
