How would humanity change if all humans’ life expectancy was significantly increased (let’s say to around 500 years)?

Explanation:

I’d be interested in what an expert of human behavior would say. What I’ve gathered so far is some good, some bad.

We would possibly:

have enough time to learn from our mistakes if they weren’t so catastrophic. As opposed to hoping that the following generations would remember the intent of actions, laws, principles, and foundations of the society without repeating history. Each generation that gets further away from our past, begins to question why we do what we do now without researching the problem that got us where we are. We keep repeating history and don’t typically learn from our mistakes because we don’t recognize the same categorical problems aka the nuclear bomb.

be more aware of our resources, would we stop having as many children? Would we push out people, or cull our own to preserve them if we haven’t found other ways to keep resource reserves up or better ways for waste management.

all be geniuses. countering this with, we’d all be geniuses. Ever been in a room with a bunch of geniuses arguing their point of why something has to be done certain way? Exactly.

be so bored, we’d get back to exploring more the deepest parts of our planet that is undiscovered. We feel life is short without the monetary backing required. With this much time, we could get to everything on our bucket lists.

Sure there’s more ups and downs, am interested in seeing other people’s answers.

Life expectancy is the number of years to which the life of a human being is expected.

The present average life expectancy average all around the world is 65-70 years.

If the average life expectancy is increased to 500 years, following changes would be seen:

  1. The basic perception of youngness and old ageing would change. People would no longer be in the anxiety of using anti ageing products from 20-30 years.
  2. The age for education, marriage, maturation would be altered. People would then be engaged in much much more deeper, varietal and various studies, and would study for more years. People would also not marry as per the present set standardised age.
  3. Our metabolism would also change, food absorption per capita and other services would increase.
  4. A person would be able to witness Hailey's comet twice or thrice in his lifetime.
  5. A person would also be able to witness numerous revolutions, much more inventions and a complete world from their birth to their death.
  6. People would get infected with more diseases due to the longer durability of their life.
  7. The human will to advent Kryonics would also get a severe hit.
  8. The birth rate of humans would get altered too, because the present birth rate would lead to a super massive population explosion as the birth rate would surpass death rate easily.
  9. People would be able to opt much more fields in respect to employment.
  10. There would be more cases of euthanasia because a 70 year old disease hit fellow won't crave for another 400 years to live for.

Hope it helps you Ktripathy. The question was nice.
