Both income and employment can increase as farmers get appropriate prices for their produce, and new methods can also lead to new jobs.
- If irrigation and marketing facilities are amply provided, both income and employment can increase as -
- A farmer with irrigation infrastructure may be able to harvest a second crop, such as wheat, which will help provide jobs for more people and raise revenue.
- With marketing, farmers can also sell their produce in nearby and even further areas thus generating income. The availability of marketing facilities would aid farmers in obtaining a fair price for their products.
- An increase in crops means more storage and more transportation, this will in return create jobs in industries like transportation and storage.
- Assuming a new dam is built and irrigation canals are completed, this might significantly increase employment within the agriculture sector and help solve the underemployment issue.
- Further, with proper marketing facilities, farmers can be provided fertilisers/pesticides for better growth of harvest. This harvest can be later sold in bulk.
