How would non secretion of saliva affect digestion of food in the mouth

saliva contains antibacterial agent known as lysosyme. lysosyme kills the micro organism present in the food. saliva dissolve the food which makes easy passage of food through the alimentary canal. saliva contains an enzyme salivary amylase which digest about 30% starch into maltose.
