During the second World War the British actually said that India would be participating in the world war on behalf of the allied powers. This decision was taken solely without any consent of the Congress leaders in India.
During this whole endeavour the Muslim League was actually quite supportive of the British. They pldged their full support to them.
The clash between the Muslim League and the Congress and also the increasing political tension between these two parties was actually one of the reson why the country got divided.
