Bile break s the globules of fat into smaller globules and it also makes the nature of food alkaline. pancreatic enzymes can only act on alkaline materials but the food the small intestine receive s is acidic ( due to HCl) .so why there is a need for changing the nature of material to alkaline. now let's get to the point again now if bile duct is blocked digestion of fats which bile and lipase ( juice secreted by pancreas) performs and digestion of proteins would not be possible ( performed by trypsin: pancreatic juice).
