In William Butler Yeat’s poem “The Lake of Innisfree” the poet wanted to rest his mind in a quiet place.


The poet spent his growing years in Innisfree, so in spite of being in London, his heart stayed there.


He wanted to dwell in a simple cottage surrounded by a garden amidst the lap of nature instead of spending time in the city pavements.
