Thrust in a liquid column does not depend on the area of the bottom of the container. It depends on the height of the liquid column. So, if we increase the height of the column then the thrust will increase and if we decrease the height of the liquid column then the thrust will also decrease.

Answer:
So, it is clear that the pressure is inversely proportional to the area. If the area is doubled keeping the thrust constant, the pressure would be half as : Hence, this is the required solution
