how would u distinguished monocots from dicots?

The seeds which have 1 cotyledon and called monocotyledons.The seeds which have 2 cotyledon are called dicotyledon

Dicotyledon plants
seed- Two cotyledons
root- well developed , primary root(tap root)
stem- strong,hard,eg: Banyan tree
Leaf- Reticulate venation
Flower- tetramerous or pentamerous

Monocotyledonous
seed- single cotyledons
root- Fibrous roots
stem- Hollow,eg: bamboo
False,eg: banana
Disk-like,eg: onion
leaf- parallel venation
flower- trimerous
