Shakespeare in his sonnet declares that nothing can destroy the works of literature, represented by his poem about his friend. According to the poet the poem out lives the ravages of time and destruction wreaked by war.

Shakespeare refers to war as 'wasteful'. War is wasteful in every way. No one achieves much with the destruction caused by war. What results from war is always total destruction. When we inspect the history we will get an incredibly huge record of wasteful destruction caused by war. The history tells us about the number of monuments and  invaluable libraries that were destroyed in wars of different ages. A lot many of man's achievements were totally annihilated by war. Civilizations were wiped off from the face of earth. Thus war is wasteful.
It is the duty of every human being to prevent such wasteful and futile wars which are  entirely destructive. But when it comes to works of literature , it will outlive any war. It will live in the hearts of men
