alcohol doesn't react with sodium hydrogen carbonate
carboxylic acid reacts with sodium hydrogen carbonate

Distinguish experiment between alcohol and carboxylic acid.

• LITMUS PAPER TEST :

litmus paper test helps in distinguishing alcohol and carboxylic acid
alcohol doesn't change the blue litmus to red but carboxylic acid converts blue litmus paper to red litmus paper.


• REACTION WITH NaHCO3

Reaction with sodium hydrogen carbonate,

alcohol doesn't react with sodium hydrogen carbonate, but carboxylic acid reacts with sodium hydrogen carbonate .
