1. Alfred russel wallace travelled to amazonia in 1848.wallace noticed many plants and animals had special features enabling them survive the conditions which they lived .these observations led wallance to develop a theory about how species of animals and plants gradually change through a process known as natural selection
2. natural selection is the process by which species adapt to their environment
3. Natural selection leads to evolutionary change when individuals with certain characteristics have a greater survival or reproductive rate than other individuals in a population and pass on these inheritable genetic characteristics to their offspring.
4.It is the one process that is responsible for the evolution of adaptations of organisms to their environment
5. so it is one of the great contribution by alfred russel as it is the one process that is responsible for the evolution of adaptations of organisms to their environment.

alfred russel wallace concluded that natural selection contributed to origin of new species.for ex red beetles are eaten by cows.so the popoulation of red beetles have gradually got eliminated or perished from its environmentbut at the same time green beetlesare not seen by cows so the population of green beetles are increasing day by day.this is called natural selection
