According to the chapter Landscape of the Soul by Nathalie Trouveroy classifies many types of art: Chinese Art, European Art, and Art Brut.
The essence of Chinese Art is inner life of spirit; but the core of Western Art is illusionistic likeness of life. The former depicts an inner one, a spiritual and conceptual space, whereas the latter depicts the material world.
Art Brut is a new form art. It can be called the art of the untrained visionary artist. In this art anyone who has not had previous or formal training in art, but has an innovative and unique vision to create something new, can be an artist in this field. Nek Chand, the creator of Rock Garden is a perfect example of this type of art.
We may classify art i.e., paintings and sculpture broadly as 'mainsteam' offering and 'outsider art'. Whereas the former are products of trained artists,the latter are the works of those who have received no formal training,yet show talent and artistic insight. It is the art of the untrained visionary.
