How would you design an experiment to test the hypothesis that violent video content increases aggression? Be specific about your procedures, cover story, the independent variable, and the dependent variable. How would you try to reduce any confounds in your design and make sure that you chose variables that have construct validity?

Answer:

Like how Bandura did. Gather your sample . Make it a large sample from 100 - 180 subjects. Make sure there is a 50- 50 number of genders. Eg if you have a sample of 100 subjects  , 50 should be males and 50 should be females.

Divided the group into 2 . Control group n = 25  , Experimental group n = 75

Control group would watch a comedy movie but the experimental group may watch john wick or Game of thrones. After 2 hours or 1 hour depending on the length of the film  , give the subjects task to do. It could be helping each other or solving a math question.  Observe the subjects reaction to frustration and how they react to it. Your cover story would be that you want to test a game and see how good it will be .

Make sure to get the consent of your subjects and keep other things confidential even though permission is giving. If your subjects are kids ask consent for parents or guidance . After the experiment  , debrief the subjects and condition them back to normal if damage was done to mental health.
