When the Jocobin club fell down, the wealthier classes siezed power. New constitution was introduced which actually denied the right to vote to less - propertied sections of society.
Then, it provided for two elected legislative council. These afterwards appointed a directory, an executive made up of total 5 members.
This was forced to safeguard against the concentration of power in one man executive as under Jacobins. But it often happened bthat the directors clashed with the legislative coubcils, who then dismiss them. The political instability of directory led to rise of a military director named Napoleon Bonaparte.
