Question :-

How would you find the north pole and south pole in a magnet?

Answer :-

Take a magnetic compass where the north direction is properly marked.

Place the compass close to the magnet .

You will notice that the compass needle bends towards any one end of the magnet.

That is the South pole of the magnet.

The opposite pole is hence the North pole of the magnet.

Explanation :

The magnetic compass points towards the geographic north .

Since opposite poles attract , the needle will turn towards the opposite polarity and hence it turns towards the south pole of the magnet.

This helps us to find the poles of the magnet .
