Don't blame or reduce students in front of their friends. Help make the line between right and wrong clear to children. Be the first to practice what you preach and a role model for your students. Dangling the lure of incentives gives them that push to put their best foot forward. Sometimes misbehaving students need the shoulder of a peer to lean on, whether it's an academic or non-authoritative figure.
