Answer:

How do you like history?

Oh yes!

My love for history wasn't innate, as it seemed to be with physics or organic chemistry where the study just seemed to be very effortless and smooth.

My initial encounters with history were just horrible, probably because of the way it was taught at schools. We were just asked to cram the points to be written in the answers.

Nobody ever laid emphasis on drawing a plot in the mind of the events that occurred, alongside the chapter, instead all we had to do was remember. In this way, nobody was actually learning or understanding history, instead what we crammed, used to become history after the exams. XD

It was while preparing for NTSE in 10th class, I discovered my hidden love for History. For the first time I studied SST(especially history) not for the sake of pure cramming but for really learning history and cramming only where it was required rather than cramming entire 5 markers. The MCQs required deep understanding of the NCERTs. I started with the 10th class books, revisited the 9th class ones and then things started to make a lot more sense. Everything which seemed to be so unrelated, then looked like a one grand story.

I still remember keeping a record of how many times I read a particular chapter. By the end of my preparation, I had read the chapter on Russian Revolution more than 25 times. (It was the hardest one for me.)
