We can get hydrogen gas by adding aluminium metal to the NaOH solution as:
2Al (s) + 6NaOH (aq) → 3H2 (g) + 2Na3AlO3 (aq) ( sodium aluminate).
Or we can also add zinc to NaOH solution as to obtain hydrogen :
Zn+2NaOH-->Na2ZnO2(sodium zincate) +H2.
Hope it helps you.
