Take small quantity of potassium iodide crystals, which is white, in test tube and add little water. Shake it well till it dissolves. The add few drops of concentrated hydrochloric acid and shake well. Prepare a solution of 3% hydrogen peroxide by mixing it with 97% water. To the solution add a small quantity of this 3% hydrogen peroxide prepared. You can notice that crystals of iodine are formed. By allowing the crystals to settle, it can be separated from the solution through filtration process. These crystals can be allowed to dry.
