when this reaction occurs effervescence is seen which is the sign of evolution of hydrogen. effervescence means bubbling of a gas inside a liquid which Shows the gas is non reacting , insoluble in that liquid.

Zinc is more reactive than hydrogen and it displaces hydrogen from dilute acids. Zinc reacts with dilute sulphuric acid to form zinc sulphate and hydrogen gas is evolved.
