How would you show that heat is released during respiration?

Take two test tubes fill both of them with beans.The first test tube should be filled seeds are going to germinate or living seed and the second tube with seeds which have no chance of germination that is dead seeds.Close the mouth of both tubes with cotton and put a thermometer into the cotton leave the tubes for sometime after a few hours check the temperature in the thermometer.You will observe that the tube having living seeds has an increase in temperature.Thus by this you can show that heat is produced during respiration.
