If a piece of silver is placed in a solution of CuSO4 no reaction will take place as Ag is less reactive than Cu and can't replace Cu from CuSO4 solution.

CuSO4 (aq) + Ag(s) --> No reaction

But if a piece of Cu is placed in the solution of Silver Nitrate (AgNO3, a colorless solution) then Cu will slowly replace the Ag from AgNO3 solution thus forming a blue colored copper nitrate solution.

2AgNO3 (aq) + Cu(s) -----> Cu(NO3)2 (aq) + 2Ag(s)

This shows Ag is chemically less reactive than copper.
