a MAGNET is an object which attracts pieces of iron, steel, nikel and cobalt.
a bar magnet is a long, rectangular bar of uniform cross section which attract prices of iron, steel, nickel and cobalt.
it's very simple to find out out weather a given bar is magnet or not.
just bring some IRON NAILS OR STEEL ITEM and place it or hold it near the bar.
if the bar attracts these items then it is a MAGNET.
hope this helps

Answer:
Bring one pole of a bar magnet to one end of the bar at one time and observe. 3. If it is observed that one end of the metal bar is attracted to one pole and the other end is repelled, it is confirmed that the metal bar is a magnet
