How would you test the presence of starch in leaves?​

Explanation:

The presence of starch in leaves can be tested by the Iodine test. When we remove chlorophyll from the leaf by boiling it in alcohol and then put two drops of iodine solution, it is colour change to blue indicates the presence of starch.

1.Take two Potted plants of the same kind .Keep one in the dark for 72 hours and the other in the sunlight.

2 Detach one leaf of each plant kept in the sunlight and in dark place

3.Take a leaf of plant kept in sunlight ,boil it with warm water and it in ethanol

4.Dip both the leaves in the iodine solution.

5.We observe that the leaf of the plant which was in the sun light turns bluish -black in colour and there is no change in colour of leaf .
