Explanation:
Iodine solution is used to test leaves for the presence of starch. You need to: heat a plant leaf in boiling water for 30 seconds (this stops its chemical reactions) heat it in boiling ethanol for a few minutes (this removes most of its colour)

Test for presence of starch in leaves.
Explanation:
- Set up a plant one in sunlight and other in the dark room
- take the leaves from both plants and dip it inside the hot water for one minute.
- Dip the leaves in ethyl alcohol, till leaves changes its color
- cover these leaves with drops of iodine solution and observe.
- Observation- alcohol breaks the chlorophyll , hot water kills the leaf, leaf is no more green in color , when it is treated with iodine one leaf ( kept in sunlight) turns blue black in color while the other ( kept in dark room) turns reddish brown. The one in which starch is present is turned blue black by iodine solution.
