A slow learner is a kid who is a little bit behind other children of his or her age and level. Slow learners may not necessarily have learning disability and they a normal live outside school. However, academics are a challenge for them.

  1. Ensure the the slow learner has a quite/work study area
  2. Be patient and consistent
  3. Read to them and if required necessary repeat many times so that the slow learner will grasp better
  4. Activities should be planned to provide readiness for learning
  5. Slow learners needs to do things with their body, head and brain. They must be given freedom to experience, experiment and learn.
  6. Motivate them and do not allow them to give up
  7. Slow learners have he ability to make simple generalisations however they should be given ample opportunities to experiment, explore and discuss
  8. Do not be over protective
  9. Frequent repetition, adequate revisions must be encouraged for better consolidation of the learned material.

We can treat a slow learner person by the following ways :

1. While teaching to a person who is a slow learner, one should be patient and must have self control.

2. One should not be angry quickly if he or she does not understand the topic quickly.

3. We must motivate such people and tell them never to give up.

4. One must not force them in such field where they have no interest.

5. Slow learners must be given chance to explore and to discuss.

6. Regular revision is very necessary.
