I did! Everyone should take a family vacation to another Country. The exploration of a different culture makes for life long memories. Last summer, after months of planning our family trip to Mexico the day had arrived. The morning was already hot and I was pacing all around the house double checking that I had packed all the necessities for the week long stay. It was time to load up our belongings and hit the road for a 14 hour drive. Knowing that this drive was going to be so long, I stocked up on dvds and snacks for the 3 little ones to keep them entertained in between their nap sessions.
Driving straight through the night only stopping for gas and restroom breaks we finally reached our destination. Arriving to a small pueblo with a population of about 1000 people, dirt roads, and houses made of mostly adobe blocks was definitely a change of scenery. The weather was extremely hot and dry almost desert like. Although this was such a change for my family we were going to enjoy our vacation to the fullest. Pulling up to my mother in laws house we were greeted with a warm welcome. The kids were beyond ecstatic to see their grandparents and all their aunts and uncles. We were wore out from our long drive all we wanted to do was take a short nap. Waking up a few hours later we made some lunch and sat around talking the rest of the day. Thankful to be able to spend time together with family we hadn’t seen for quite some time. I absolutely admire the importance of family togetherness amongst the Hispanic culture.
Unknowing to us the family had planned a surprise “fiesta” for my youngest daughter to celebrate her 6th birthday. Talk about an elaborate party. There was an abundance of
authentic Mexican food rich in flavor, life size princess piñata full of goodies, and to top it all off a band that played well into the night....
