Given : Isosceles triangle  

To Find : prove that the base angles are equal

Solution:

Let say DEF is an  isosceles triangle   with DE = DF

Need to show ∠E = ∠F

Draw Median EG  

Compare ΔDEG and ΔFEG

Segment EG ≅  Segment EG    Using The reflexive property of congruence

EG is common in Both    

Segment DE ≅  Segment EF  ( Equal side of Isosceles triangle)

Segment DG ≅  Segment GF ( Median Divides side in two Equal parts )

=>  ΔDEG ≅ ΔFEG

=> ∠E ≅ ∠F

Hence m∠E = m∠F

Hence proved that the base angles of an isosceles triangle is equal
