Answer:

One of the major threats in present age is the growing consmption of materials and growing improper disposal of wastes.

For biodegradable and non degradable materials we have developed a method of 4R's : reducing, reusing, recycling, and recovering.

The concept of reducing is by lowering the consumption of materials we can lower the waste materials produced  each time.

eg: reducing the use of plastic.

The concept of reusing is by using a materials to the max. times helps in lowering the amount of waste produced per annum or per month.

eg: reusing plastic bottles we get when we finish using the material stored inside it ; biogas plant ,etc.

The concept of recycling is when we recycle the waste materials can be used to produce another product. Here another advantage is we have to use only a small amount of net raw materials.

eg: recycling broken glass to make new glass products ;compost for bio degradable waste, etc.

The concept of  recovering is to recover the waste materials and try to use it in some way or to dispose it properly without causing damage to the environment.

eg: recovering wastes from sea, ponds, etc. and disposing it.

Reduce, reuse, recycle, and recover garbage are the four R principles for proper plastic use.

4R principle:

  • Waste is described as undesired and useless items, as well as a substance that is no longer useful.
  • Garbage refers to waste that we notice in our environment.
  • Garbage is mostly regarded as solid waste, which comprises rubbish from our homes, waste from schools, workplaces, and so on, as well as waste from companies and factories.

(i) Reduce:

  • We should decrease the usage of dangerous non-biodegradable chemicals.
  • For example, instead of using polythene bags, we should use paper bags.

(ii) Reuse:

  • Instead of discarding the materials, we should utilize them.
  • Plastic bags, for example, may be repurposed to manufacture beautiful items.

(iii) Recycle:

  • Recycling should be applied to non-biodegradable materials.
  • Plastic materials are one example.

(iv) Recovery:

  • We may utilize the garbage that remains after it has been reused and repurposed to produce electricity at our waste-energy facility. This is referred to as Recovery.
