Metals can be spread into sheets with the help of a hammer while non-metals give powder. When metals are connected into circuit using battery, bulb, wires and a switch, current passes through the circuit and the bulb glows.

With the help of hammer, convert both the metal and nonmetal in the form of plates. We observe that metals metals converted into plates, but non metals cannot converted into plates. Now conduct a cell in both the cases using these plates electrodes and switch on the current. If the bulb glows, this means that electrodes are of metals. If the bulb doesn't glows, this means that electrodes are of non-metals.
