How you find the cotton yarn with a flame test?

Hey mate !!!  Answer :-  Well,take a piece of cotton with the help of tongs. Now burn it.  Obsevation:- We can smell the buring of paper. Hence we can say it is cotton.  Hope this helps !

The flame test is done for preliminary examination of the fiber type. In this test the small amount of specimen fiber is exposed directly to the flame of fire. Different fibers burns with distinct odor and a characteristic ash residue is left.  The flame test of cotton yarn results in the burning of the cotton with a characteristic smell of burning paper and a white- grey ash residue is left after burning.
